Ultima vinyl replacement windows have weatherstripping on both sides of the sash for superior water, air, and sound infiltration rates. The miter cut allows the weatherstrip to meet in the corners so that the gap found in traditional square cut windows is eliminated. The brass roller is adjustable to help compensate for out-of-square conditions sometimes found in the field.
Features:
- Double Weatherstripping
- Full Miter Design
- Adjustable Brass Rollers
Flush Fin -
Optimal double-wall Flush Fin for replacement windows. Easy to trim to size, but extra thick walls for strength. Caulking pockets on the back of the flush fin allow for a better bond.
Reinforced Steel -
Two pieces of heavy galvanized steel make for a stronger, more durable window.
Sloped Sill Frame -
With our state of the art design, water and condensation drain off the window frame, rather than collect on flat surfaces.
Double Brass Adjustable Roller -
Our adjustable rollers can help make installing windows into slightly out-of-square openings that much easier
What is an Egress window?
An egress window is simply a window with specific dimensions and placement to provide an emergency exit for a room. An egress window is required in any sleeping room, which is considered a room with a closet. Other rooms could require egress windows depending on whether they are on the 3rd floor or in a basement. A door that opens to a balcony or to the outside may be used in lieu of an egress window.
What are the dimensions for an egress window?
Dimensions for an egress window must satisfy your local codes. Generally, many codes require:
- Minimum width of opening: 20 inches
- Minimum height of opening: 24 inches
- Minimum net clear opening: 5.7 sq. ft. (5.0 sq. ft. for ground floor)
- Maximum sill height above floor: 44 inches
Egress window openings must be operational from the inside without keys, tools, or special knowledge. Bars, grilles and grates may be installed over windows but must be operational without tools or keys and still allow the minimum clear opening.
