Jenkins Lumber Company "JELCO" was founded in 1888 in Birmingham, Alabama, by Raleigh M. Jenkins, Sr. In June, 1924, after his graduation from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, Raleigh M. Jenkins, Jr. went to work for his father. On January 8, 1936 Raleigh M. Jenkins, Jr. became president. In the years to follow, under his leadership, the company was transformed from a lumber supply company to a millwork manufacturing company.

In November of 1962, the company suffered a fire which destroyed the facility. A couple of months later the company reopened in an antiquated brass foundry building in Anniston, Alabama.

In 1976, the company built and moved into a new 60,000 square foot plant in the Anniston Industrial Park section of Anniston, Alabama. Through growth, the facility has been expanded four additional times. In 1979, a 36,000 square foot section was added on, and another 54,000 square foot addition was completed in 1987. Due to continued growth and the need for additional warehousing space, a 9,000 square foot addition was added in 1999 while plans for a large addition were being developed. This large 44,000 square foot addition was completed in 2000 to give Monarch the space needed to grow well into the future. Today, Monarch has over 203,000 square feet under one roof.

In the early 90's, the Monarch product line was created as an upscale product. Over the 10 years that followed, the Jenkins identity was being transformed into the Monarch identity. While the legal name remains Jenkins Manufacturing Co. Inc., almost everyone today recognizes the company as Monarch Windows and Doors.

Through the next few years Monarch has continually expanded its product line to meet the needs of the market place. Some of our addition are:

  • In March 1995 the "Clip Pak" replacement sash was introduced allowing customers the option for window replacement renovations. These were made available in Wood and Clad with Composite being available in 2002.

  • June 1999 Monarch introduced our Crown and Regal vinyl replacement windows. These units no longer limit the consumer's selection by offering the choice of a single hung or a double hung window.

  • In the first quarter of 2002 the Composite Window line was introduced. These are made of a white cellular vinyl composite material needing no painting for 10 years, thus eliminating the need to paint year after year.

  • In 2005 the Clad and Wood Horizontal sliding window was made available, giving customers yet another choice in the Monarch window line.

  • Our casement line expanded in 2006 with the addition of the French casement, which is available in clad and wood.

In December 2005, Monarch was purchased by Morris Captial Managament, LLC. We are now Monarch Windows and Doors, LLC. We continue Mr. Jenkins commitment to quality just as we always have since 1888.

Safety With every product we design and manufacture, the safety of you and your family is one of our highest priorities. We at Monarch will NEVER sacrifice safety to make an extra dollar. Safety drives our limitations.

Warranty A product is only as good as the warranty that stands behind it. Monarch offers a limited lifetime glass warranty as its cornerstone that far exceeds the industry standard of 10 to 20 years.

History Monarch, with over 100 years in business, has stood the test of time. Today we still hold true to the values and beliefs of our company's founders. We still do business the old fashion way, with a handshake and our word.

Performance and Reliability The true measure of a window or door can only be judged after years of service. A recent study comparing Monarch to the competition shows that Monarch's need for field service is one of the lowest in the industry.

Product Offering Monarch has one of the broadest product offerings available. The list seems endless when looking at all the available features and options. With our vast selection of standard size products along with our passion for producing the custom and unusual ones, we can handle almost any project that comes our way..

Delivery Often overlooked, and a topic most manufacturers don't like to discuss, Monarch offers one of, if not the best, lead time available. The common time frame from order to delivery is 4 to 6 weeks on standard products and longer on custom made units. Monarch's average delivery time is 1 to 2 weeks -- even for custom made units.
