For over 50 years, BiltBest Windows and Patio Doors have been made with pride, commitment and tradition, using heartland of America craftsmanship. Today, BiltBest continues to supply high quality, premium window and door products to both the new and remodeling segments of the residential housing market. In addition, we are seen as a viable alternative in the light commercial sector, where quality clad wood products are increasingly used. Our products are sold through selected professional vinyl replacement windows and door distributors across the country. We strive to establish strong and dedicated relationships with our distributors, and the professionals they serve, based on loyalty, commitment, and high levels of service before, during, and after the sale. Ultimately, we are most proud of the windows and doors we provide for the homes of American families. Our products are built to last, combining high environmental performance and classic traditional design with a multitude of options, features, and color choices.
BiltBest had its beginnings in 1947 when Morris and Paul Eisenberg founded the company in Nassau, New York, as a building contractor. In 1950, a government contract to supply wooden ammunition boxes brought the business west to Clarence, Missouri to be closer to three U.S. Army arsenals. The business expanded until the Army changed its preference to metal ammunition containers. As a result, the company shifted its market focus to produce wood window components for the growing housing industry. Needing more capacity, BiltBest moved to its present site in the historic town of Sainte Genevieve, Missouri, along the banks of the Mississippi River in 1955. The Sainte Genevieve location provided a larger manufacturing facility, totaling nearly 40,000 sq ft, allowing BiltBest to expand product lines and to supply wood window parts to dealers across the country. Later that year, the company took a major step forward in the industry by introducing its first complete window line known as the "Roto-Lok" awning and casement. In 1961, the first true casement window, the "Imperial Casement", was produced, followed by the "GlideMaster" horizontal sliding window in 1964.
By the late 1960's, the company engineered a number of industry firsts. These innovations included the first window company to manufacture triple glazed insulating glass and the development of the first process to use vinyl to clad the exterior of a wood window. Patents were issued for these innovations in 1971 and 1972, respectively.
BiltBest continued to expand product lines, introducing the company's first line of rolling patio doors in 1972, followed in 1978 by a line of aluminum clad windows and doors. The company continued to grow, and in 1982, BiltBest modernized and enlarged its operating facilities growing to over 225,000 sq ft of manufacturing and administrative floor space in Sainte Genevieve, and added an aluminum fabricating facility in Advance, Missouri that was in operation until 1995. We have become a builder of custom windows and custom doors in order to meet the desires of an increasingly sophisticated consumer.
Throughout the 1980’s and 1990s, the company continued to innovate and introduce new products. Major examples include the “Sungate 100”, the first Low E insulated glass unit, introduced to the market in 1983. Inswing hinged patio doors followed in 1987 along with the very successful and popular Clad Challenger double hung and slider window line. A new clad French rolling door series was added in 1993.
The turn of the new millennium brought a surge in the home building industry and new demands and challenges to the company. In response, we embarked into a period of rebirth and rejuvenation for our 60 year old company. BiltBest is now thriving in a highly dynamic and more complex industry, focusing on a much defined market niche – providing premium quality aluminum clad windows and doors to the upper-end residential housing market. We continue to innovate and improve, embracing “green building” principles and developing new high-performing, environmentally effective products. In 2007 and 2008, we will introduce modern designs in new French rolling and hinged patio doors, the Maxima Storm Guard™ line of impact certified windows and doors for coastal or storm prone areas, and a traditional, historic double hung window line for the restoration market.
Looking ahead to a bright future, we will remain loyal, committed and dedicated to our network of professional window and door dealers, architects, builders, and most importantly, to the American homeowner.
