Brothers Home Improvement was founded in 1994 by brothers Gene and Ralph.

The company combined Gene's business know-how with Ralph's years of experience in the window industry. They built Brothers Home Improvement to fill homeowners' needs for an ethical, well-run window company. Gene and Ralph brought the expertise of their seven other brothers and sisters into the company. This helped ensure that in every phase of growth, the family's values remained an integral part of all facets of the business.

At the heart of Brothers Home Improvement Inc. is family. Our company attributes its success to a strong family philosophy that has guided and allowed Brothers Home Improvement to remain consistently profitable throughout the ups and downs of replacement window industry cycles for over a decade. In fact, the company was named after the relationship between the two founding members: brothers Ralph and Gene Cavanna. The second eldest of nine and the youngest of the family combined Ralph’s years of experience in the window industry with Gene’s business expertise.

Today eight out of nine Cavanna siblings work for the business, as well as a handful of in-laws, cousins, and a healthy sprinkling of the second generation. Of course, the fact that roughly 15% of the company's 130+ employees are related does not single handedly account for the company's unparalleled success in the retro-fit window industry, but it has definitely played a role alongside our loyal and hardworking employees.

It all started in San Jose in 1994 when the brothers decided to open the company. Ralph had years of experience in the industry, and Gene left his position as a senior manager of operations with FedEx to pursue the venture.

In 1996 a second location was opened in Roseville, CA where Gene made his home, while Ralph continued to reside near the San Jose location.

As our company took a foothold in both market areas, Gene and Ralph enticed numerous trusted family members to join the growing business. Brother Michael left his career with Apple to become Vice President of Sales, brother-in-law Steve became Regional Vice President of operations, sisters Rocio, Asun, Marisa and Rosa were appointed Directors of Marketing, Administration, Purchasing and Service, and Receivables, respectively.

Within just a few years the company established itself in markets throughout Northern and Southern California, and our newest operation in Reno, NV. Today Gene's son Michael serves as a Regional Vice President of Southern California, and his daughter Angel handles accounting for the manufacturing plant. And that's just to name a few of the family members involved in the business.

Just as the company became a major influence in the window industry, "Brothers" took the biggest leap of all. In 2003, in order to have complete control of our customer's experience, we opened our very own manufacturing plant in Sparks, Nevada, and introduced an exclusive line designed and engineered specifically for the West Coast. Today we are repeatedly referred to as "Everyone's favorite window company"

Competitive Pricing: Our business model was setup to make a little money from a lot of customers as opposed to obtaining a large markup from a few customers. Our work ethics along with our competitive pricing was a success. Today we have six locations across California and Nevada where we service our customers from, plus our beautiful corporate site and our very own manufacturing plant.

And we back it with a full lifetime installation guarantee, not just product and labor to repair products. Without a great installation staff we would never have reached the size that we have. For it is only through word-of-mouth that one can sustain high volumes without having to spend huge sums on advertising, which would in turn make our pricing less competitive.

Great Service: We are a family that was raised with good ethics and values. It's natural for us to want the best for people out there. But aside from that, it is simply in our best interest to keep our customers happy. And we do. When truly scrutinized, our warranties are unmatched out there and we therefore service our customers like few businesses today do. We even provide accidental glass breakage since we know how painful it can be to have to pay for a new insulated glass unit after getting a crack from a stone hurled by a lawn mower, or maybe your son's overzealous baseball... check out our warranty.

A true family business: With so much of our family's future at stake in our business, few businesses place so much focus on our customers, the industry and our future potential. This was key to why we chose to move to the next level and decided to invest in our own manufacturing plant. This truly eliminates the middleman and gives us full control in truly being able to service our customers. As a dealer for other manufacturers, we were often limited by the fine print on the manufacturer's warranties. Or by the subjectivity of a manufacturing defect being potentially caused by an installation problem and thereby voiding the manufacturer's warranty since they don't install. Now that we have our own plant, we manufacture it, we sell it and we install it. Yes, you have a true warranty with no fine print to get in your way.
