Fibertec Window & Door Mfg. located in Concord, Ontario is one of the first manufacturers of fiberglass framed windows and doors.
Throughout the 90's, Fibertec has exclusively focused on developing the world's most advanced fiberglass window and door system, and has recently enhanced it with a unique stainable wood interior. This feature combines the natural beauty of wood with the outstanding properties of fiberglass, making it the ultimate system currently available in the fenestration industry.
Fibertec management and staff take great pride in every project that we become involved in. Our production is restricted to ensure that everyone on our team is able to devote the attention to the quality expected by our clients.
The Fiberglass Story
High-tech fiberglass lineals offers an exciting alternative to metal, plastic, or wood frame windows. All the advantages of competing systems with none of their disadvantages.
The ultimate replacement windows-frame material, pultruded fiberglass, differs from common fiberglass used in pools, boats, and storage tanks. Continuous strands of glass are saturated in a thermoset resin, and pass through a heated die. They are pulled through, the die, rather than pushed or extruded, through the die - hence the term `pultrusion.’
Fibertec fabricates these dimensionally stable window lineals into window frames. By filling the fiberglass frames with foam insulation and glazing them with high efficiency insulating glass, Fibertec has produced the ultimate high performance window
Fibertec Window System meets the needs of designers and builders who wish to go beyond the limitations inherent with metal, plastic or wood frame fenestration. Pultruded fiberglass has proven to be a superior material in five ways: dimensional stability, thermal insulation, durability and aesthetics, and `environmental friendliness’.
In the pultrusion process, continuous fibers reinforcing in roving or mat/roving forms are drawn through a specially formulated resin bath to coat each fiber with a thermosetting resin mixture. The coated fibers are assembled by a forming guide and then drawn through a heated die. Cure of the thermosetting resin is activated by heat in the die and catalyst in the resin mix. Unlike aluminum or PVC which are pushed through a die and then worked at the exit end, the pultrusion process pulls the material, hence the name, through the die and the resulting profile is cut to length as it leaves the die. It is then ready for use without further forming or treatment.
1. What is the advantage of using fiberglass?
The lack of long-term performance inherent in traditional window materials, such as wood, vinyl and aluminum, can result in problems with warping, rotting, cracking and shrinkage. Using materials found in other industries. Fibertec Window Manufacturing Limited pioneered the Fibertec Fiberglass Window System featuring advanced technology. As a result, our research group has developed the world`s best energy-rating window system.
Fibertec has changed the way windows are made today. These fiberglass window and door systems outperform all other window products, setting new standards in the industry.
2. What is your test results on expansion and contraction of this product?
Fiberglass has surpassed all levels of performance by being the best material used in window frame manufacturing. It resists warping, twisting or cracking; exhibiting minimal expansion and contraction similar to that of glass, all of which helps to cut down on the structural degradation of the window. (See Chart).
Fibertec windows effectively resist weathering because of their uniform movement and high resistance to heat and cold, moisture and dryness, which ensures life-time durability . Fiberglass has proven to be the most suitable material for windows and doors, and experts say it`s "the lumber of the future."
That`s why our windows are GUARANTEED FOR LIFE!
- Ease of installation, since windows remain square, level & plumb.
- Smooth operation; no stress on hardware mechanisms and guaranteed prolonged life expectancy.
- Weather-stripping will engage positively around the entire perimeter for air & water tightness.
- No sash sagging or mullion deflection.
- No need for metal reinforcement, which would diminish energy efficiency.
- Slimmer frames and mullions, thereby increasing glass to frame ratio, which in turn maximizes sunlight & viewing area.
- No bowing or breakage of large glass panels in high wind load areas.
- The ability to design larger window units.
- High levels of wind load resistance, which far exceeds CAN-A440 M90 CSA Window Standards. Increased security, offering greater resistance to forced entry.
- savings in heating/cooling/energy costs over other window frame materials.
- A reduction in moisture & condensation, thereby saving costly & preventable damage to wall masonry/wallpaper.
- No need for thermal breaks, keeping the frame`s rigidity & integrity.
- High resistance to sound transmission, reducing exterior noise to a minimum.
- Comfort with a more consistent room temperature in large window areas.
- Consistent contact of weather-strip and positive seal against frame & sash, to keep air, water and dust out & energy in.
- Uniform movement of glass & frame, thereby reducing likelihood of unit failure and caulking cracks.
- Lack of brittleness or deterioration of surface finish, prolonging longevity and everlasting beauty.
- Consistently smooth operation throughout the lifetime of the window.
- Lack of stress on thermo panes, increasing life expectancy & preventing premature failure.
- Lack of stress on the hardware, increasing life expectancy & reducing wear and tear.
- Continuously smooth operation.
- Consistent weather-strip compression along the lengths of window frames and sash, to secure a proper seal.
- Frame & sash corners will not separate or crack.
- Fiberglass is a paintable surface, which has no limitations with respect to colour choices. The paint acts as a self-sealer, offering protection from moisture/pollutants and providing ease of cleaning.
- Fiberglass has excellent resistance to corrosion and/or rotting, and is also good for seaside applications & other chemically sensitive environments.
- Fiberglass is impervious to termites and other pests.
- Fiberglass has self-extinguishing capabilities in case of fire, and unlike PVC, it does not emit toxic fumes.
- Fiberglass painted surfaces do not emit gases such as PVC, and is more environmentally friendly than many other materials.
- Fiberglass frames offer dimensionally stable tolerances, which provide consistent quality during the production phase.
Fiberglass` resistance to heat and cold, as well as to moisture penetration, ensures the longest life expectancy in comparison with wood, vinyl, or aluminum, which deters future service & maintenance costs.
