vinyl replacement window

Today, there are thousands of St. Albans Windows, Siding, and Doors in homes, condos, apartments, and businesses in the Tri-State area, with more being installed every day. Thousands of people are enjoying the time-tested comfort and durability of our products in their homes. Our products can take it and are built to last. St. Albans vinyl replacement windows have endured the icy winters and hot summers of West Virginia for years. And will continue to do so for many more years to come.

Our Windows:
  • Not only are these windows beautiful to look at -
  • They are maintenance free
  • Have superior insulating qualities
  • Virtually Impervious to Weather
  • Double or Triple Panes of Glass

These windows create a thermal barrier, which combines with the multi-cavity extrusions to produce a window with a continuous thermal break in glass, frame and sash. Little wonder that windows of rigid vinyl have become the first choice of homeowners everywhere. Today, the trend is towards vinyl away from wood, steel, and aluminum

St. Albans Window Mfg. and Siding Company provides homeowners with quality manufactured and installed vinyl replacement windows and major brands of vinyl siding, and a variety of entry doors, patio doors, and storm doors.

St. Albans Window Mfg. has provided quality products and services for homeowners since 1959, when Russell W. Withrow established the company. Originally Aluminum Building Products, it was primarily an aluminum siding contracting company. The company moved from West Main Street to its present location, 2141 MacCorkle Avenue, in 1961.

In the early 1970's, the company began manufacturing aluminum replacement windows. As the industry emphasis shifted to vinyl products, the company led the way with vinyl replacement windows and vinyl siding.

Mr. Withrow passed away in 1984, and Burma Withrow, his wife, inherited the company. Under her leadership along with her two sons and daughter, the company grew and expanded rapidly. The company name became St. Albans Window Manufacturing and Siding Company, and Mrs. Withrow invested in updated and improved equipment. St. Albans Window Manufacturing now employs approximately 50 full-time employees, including the office personnel, sales staff, manufacturers, service personnel, and installation crews.

Super Spacer

"All St. Albans Windows are made using the Super Spacer Seal System"
We Have More Than Edged Out the Competition...
We have peaked the performance level of every clear and LOW-E glass unit on the market today.

Introducing the most advanced insulating glass system for today's most advanced windows...
SUPER SPACER!®

20% of glass area is affected by cold edge.

WARMING THE WINDOW EDGE

  • What causes window condensation to always start near the edge of the glass?
  • What is responsible for the window's actual insulation performance (measured by the R-value) to be normally 15-20% worse than advertised?
The answer to both questions is the metal spacer that holds the glass panes together. At the edge of an insulating glass unit, the glass is physically connected and stabilized by a metal spacer. However, the metal connection also permits heat loss by conduction, so much that current glass edges can lose energy at a rate 120% greater than the center of the glass.

To improve a window's insulation capability, "cold edges" can be replaced with less conductive "warm edge" spacers.

Why should we worry about edge of glass insulation?
Warming the glass will:
  1. Condensation is still possible if humidity levels are too high.
  2. Increase overall insulation value of already good windows.
  3. Save more energy through increased insulation.
Simply put, condensation is a function of the thermal efficiency of windows, particularly the edge of the glass. The solution to condensation formation on glass is to increase the thermal efficiency of the edge of glass, the window's weak link.

Super Spacer Structural Form virtually eliminates condensation. Condensation often causes extensive water damage to window wills and frames, curtains and carpets, and even paint and walls.

When it is cold outside, a metal spacer can drain the energy of your high performance windows. Super Spacer's patented structural foam design dramatically reduces condensation and delivers the clearest picture in warm edge technology.
