Interlocking sashes on windows (panels on patio doors) help seal out drafts and improve energy efficiency.
Single-Hung Windows The same traditional styling as a double-hung window, except that the top sash is fixed (does not move). Single-hung windows provide ventilation benefits that you don’t have with a completely fixed window. Sliding Windows A popular selection in contemporary homes, especially in the western part of the United States. On a sliding window, one panel is fixed and the other slides horizontally from side-to-side. Special Shape Windows These windows are fixed, so they cannot be opened. Special shape windows are available in half-circle and trapezoid shapes. You can use them over other windows to add a dramatic touch to your window design. Casement Windows Contemporary style with more light and a larger view. Casement windows are more common in newer homes and are typical in the western part of the United States. Casement windows are a great selection where windows can be difficult to reach, such as over the sink. Awning Windows Alike in design to casement windows, but wider than they are tall. Awning windows are commonly used for ventilation when placed above or below a window or door; they provide more light and are often used in homes with traditional double-hung windows. Bay/ Bow Windows Window combinations that reach out into the world and capture the view in a limited amount of space. Bay windows are typically three windows joined together. The center window is often fixed with operating double-hung or casement windows on the sides. Bow windows consist of four or more casement windows joined together to form a graceful curve. You can choose fixed windows (that cannot be opened), vented windows (that can be opened) or a combination of the two. Garden Windows Bring sunshine and outdoor views into your home by adding a garden window. This window projects out from the house and gives the interior a roomy appearance. An interior shelf can accommodate plants and herbs. Side vents slide vertically to provide ventilation. Sliding Patio Doors Sliding patio doors require much less space than a hinged door. Sliding patio doors feature narrow door panels and more visible glass area for a clean, contemporary look. Pella is a proud volunteer partner in the Department of Energy’s ENERGY STAR® program to promote the use of high-efficiency products.
